...but don't know exactly what...
...like when your body begins behaving in a way that is foreign to what you know of your body...
For the past 5 years I have carried a "banner" of cancer awareness: honor your body, take care of your body, get to know your body , learn what is normal for her/him, when or if changes come you'll be aware and then become pro-active. (hey if 1 in 3 people will get cancer in their lifetime we must be aware).
Yet I've found, within these past 5 years, that encouraging others to "be proactive" is far easier than actually "being" proactive for myself. Not that I don't think I matter, but life has a way of zooming past and when an issue pops up and other issues surround it - it's been easier to keep doing and shift a nagging suspicion to the deep "nether regions" of my mind... until my body finally yells "hey, ding dong - something ain't right here!!!".
She's telling me "something ain't right" and I am listening.
Finally.
So for those handful of people (Flora & Paulette) who threatened to kick my butt, or grab my phone and call the doctor for me... I love you. Thank you. Your own fights have paved the way for me to cast down any residual fear... Done.
For those nagging doubts that are running rampant in my noggin: THIS is why I am driven, why so incredibly motivated to raise precious FUNDS for RESEARCH for a CURE for Cancer .. that the CURE would be found so that people , living, breathing, vibrant PEOPLE would NEVER FEAR the possibility that the symptoms they have in their body would even POSSIBLY be "cancer" - once it is laid to rest - permanently - once CANCER is laid to rest.
In the meantime - fear is both debilitating and empowering. I'm empowered - for now.
"Doc! Here I come! What's going on?! Gimme the info!"
And thanks, girls, (and Trina!) who are waiting to hear the good news -or help me through the worst... either way... He, God who created this old girl, is with me ... always with me.
Here we go!
